Fishing
Fishing activities are evident from April through December from the Bayside beaches. For an up-to-date, lively discussion of what's happening, visitThe main areas for surf fishing are Sunset Beach, Town Bank, Norbury's Landing, and Reed's Beach. Weakfish provide the main fare for the surfcasters in the spring and summer. In the fall, everyone's attention turns to striped bass.
The main areas in our region for boat fishing are the rips off of Cape May Point, the Bayshore Channel, 60 foot slough, Brandywine Shoal Lighthouse, Fourteen Foot Lighthouse, 20 foot slough, Bug Light, and Miah Maul Lighthouse. From the boats, fluke, bluefish, and weakfish are the staples of spring and summer. In the fall, boat fishing concentrates on stripers. Live eels and bucktails are the main bait used in the rips; chunking bunker is the main technique used within the Bay. The local bait and tackle shops have the best information about fishing conditions and techniques.
